What contributions cover
Lab supplies and classroom demonstrations — not Chemdu overhead. Specifically:
Demonstration kits
- Red cabbage pH indicator (acids & bases)
- Baking soda + vinegar (gas-producing reactions)
- Hot pack / cold pack (thermodynamics)
- Periodic table posters and family-color kits
- Geiger counter for nuclear chemistry lecture
Safety supplies
- Splash goggles for every student
- Nitrile gloves and aprons
- Spill kits and ventilation aids
- Fire blanket and basic first aid
- Posters: bleach + ammonia warning, poison-control numbers
Hands-on materials
- Household chemicals (baking soda, vinegar, Epsom salt, calcium chloride)
- Beakers, graduated cylinders, droppers
- Balloons, soda bottles (gas laws demo)
- Litmus paper, indicator strips
- Take-home kit components for at-home demos
Why direct-to-school? Pooled fundraising creates overhead, eligibility tests, and slow disbursement. Going school-to-sponsor keeps the relationship personal, the spending transparent, and 100% of contributions in the classroom.

No. Contributions go directly from sponsor to school. Chemdu's role is to help you connect with the right school and to provide the curriculum and the volunteer educator — at no cost to you or the school.
That depends on the receiving school. Most U.S. public schools (and many charter schools and private nonprofit schools) can issue donation receipts that are deductible under IRS rules. The school will confirm before accepting funds.
Yes. Many sponsors prefer to send supplies directly. We'll help you coordinate a list with the school. Suppliers can also ship orders directly to the school.
Every partner school submits a needs list to the Chemdu coordinator before being listed here. Lists are reviewed for safety, alignment with our curriculum, and reasonable cost.
